A Bonnet Story

Generations ago in the graceful South Carolina Lowcountry, a simple yet elegant baby bonnet pattern was cut carefully from plain brown paper.

Though the pattern was plain, the baby bonnet was a show-stopper! And we became the fortunate beneficiaries many, many years later, when a fresh new pink and white gingham bonnet appeared, a baby gift from a close friend to our chief designer, then a young mother with her first baby. With it, the friend presented that unique handmade pattern, worn from much use but still clear. Back then, it was charmingly called a Sweet Pea Bonnet.

We live in the 21st century. We know parents and grandparents love baby clothing that is classic, yet wearable and modern (and machine washable!). So we set about updating the bonnet with designer fabrics (although our most popular style remains the classic pink gingham). In short order, we also realized we needed a counterpart hat for boys (and sporty girls too). We chose a classic bucket hat and added our unique touch, a buttons-all-'round feature that allows for adjusting for sun and style.

That simple bonnet pattern has become a roadmap for our mission of providing modern babies with the same shade, comfort and classic style as for the first baby who wore it.
