We stand by our claim of "heirloom quality, machine washable"! Our products are indeed made to be worn, and made to be saved for the next generation to wear. We guarantee that your bonnet or hat will hold up, and that the quality is exceptional, or you may return it for your money back. To date, we've had zero returns!
Susu & John is predominantly a wholesale supplier to brick and mortar stores across the country. Several of our retailers have online stores, however, so please check them out on our Retail Page. And we're always happy to fill individual custom orders, so please e-mail us at customerservice@susuandjohn.com!
Please e-mail us anytime at customerservice@susuandjohn.com. We'll help locate a source near you and make sure you get your choice of bonnet or hat into the little hands you wish! If there is no store in your vicinity, we will put in a custom order for you. And please recommend us to your favorite local store!
It's easy once you see how the bonnet works! Just match up the buttons on the brim with the button holes on the crown, making sure the crown is face down (Susu & John tag on the downside). You'll know you're doing it right when you see a natural ruffle forming about the crown as you go. For good measure, please give us a call if you have questions. We'll send you some simple "bonnet construction" pictures that show exactly how it's done!
Our products wash like a dream! Just unbutton the bonnet (or brim, if it's a hat), machine wash cold, and lay flat to dry. You can use a cool iron as necessary. Instructions are included on each Susu & John tag too.
Just visit our contact page! We welcome your e-mails and calls anytime and want to hear any questions, concerns, or comments. Our e-mail address is customerservice@susuandjohn.com, and our telephone number is 770-886-7587. We'd love to hear from you anytime!
Over a relatively short period of time Mamie seems to have made more than a lifetime's worth of bonnets and hats. Seems every time she answered the phone it was, "Well, I'm sewing another buttonhole." Betty and Roger Hodge of Land's End, St. Helena Island (in Beaufort County), and Wanda Ardell, who also sews designer draperies for decorators, now lend us their helping hands. Besides doing exquisite work, they make sure that extra whiff of fresh salty Lowcountry air goes into each item. Mamie still inspects each bonnet and hat before shipping.
Our hats and clothing designs are all legally protected by federal trademark. While we can't lay claim to the baby bonnet in general, our bonnet is unique and cannot be copied. In fact, the original pattern is hand-drawn and cut from plain brown paper, an artifact we still have! And the same with the bucket hat--while bucket hats abound, no one else has the buttons-all-'round feature, an original design of which we're very proud!
